I have used the 25-ft version of this for nearly 10 years! I bought my first in 2015. Being an aquatic turtle owner for 15+ years, this product was a game changer! I went from siphoning then filling aquarium with buckets to one hose to drain then fill. It was one of those moments where you think to yourself, how did I ever do it any other way?! I adapted my shower to use fill option with the following:1. Shower Diverter – 1/2 IPS female water inlet, Two 1/2 NPT male water outlet2. Hex Bushing – NPT 3/4 to NPT 1/2 threadedNot the most attractive addition to the shower but it works great! Long story short, after moving my aquarium I needed a longer hose, so I bought the 50-ft. It’s just as good, but that’s A LOT of hose to manage and store, so I got this cord storage reel and viola! I can quickly drain to toilet, hook up fill with warm water, and finally wrap up to store easily! Hope this helps a few fellow aquarium enthusiasts 🙂

This product has a “professional” grade starter suction pump which is very large and seems very sturdy without the need of using plumbers tape as the fit is very snug. Make sure to put on the tank clip prior to installing the siphon hose onto the siphon because it is a very tight fit and you cannot pull off the hose without a tool wedge. The 50ft hose helps quite a bit and is extremely lengthy; however, this product is easily adjustable by simply unscrewing the hose adapter side, cutting the tube, and reinserting the adapter back in as when it screws on, it grips the hose a bit. so if you do not need 50ft, you can simply adjust it as I did because I only needed a 35ft hose – excellent design and consumer-friendly by the way.The only issue I have is that the siphon is smaller than I expected (about 9″ – 10″) and works fine to empty water from larger tanks without draining them but this is not for use in a 55-gallon+ tank because of the length, especially if you have marine predator fish.It also does not really allow me to clean the gravel from my 55-gallon tank but only allows me to drain it, which caused a drop in stars (I need to purchase from a third-party a proper 20″ siphon vacuum head).All-in-all the product would be 5-stars for 45 gallon aquariums or under, unless you just want to drain a larger tank without going too low then this product is a proper purchase. The product ships in its own box within an Amazon box and the shipping box is pretty sturdy that allows zero rattling or breakage. The price is good for this product because the product is very heavy duty as opposed to other models. I would recommend this product.

TL;DR: If you like a high power typhoon suction and fast refills for your big tanks, you are better off with a python. If your water change involves cleaning heavy and clumpy waste and you are in a hurry, this is not for you. I really love this product and will highly recommend it, a game changer and I no longer dread water changes cause it’s so easy.Detailed review: After reading the reviews and comparing it to the python, I decided to get this instead because the phyton seemed a little too powerful for my 10g and the small fish I keep. Not to mention, the price difference between the two is massive. So, I bought it and after using it on my 10 gallon I must say I am in love with it. The product was quite heavy since it is a 50 ft hose, but it seemed durable and everything I needed was there. I love that they provided you with 50ft of hose as it was able to reach my tub and garden hose no problem. Mind you I am not a handy person at all and the setup was very easy for me, I watched the video and I was able to change my water in less than 10 minutes compared to doing a 1 hour bucket trip. The suction was strong enough to catch the fish poop sized of a thread, but not the fine sand substrate. I wouldn’t imagine the suction enough to be strong to take a goldfish or pleco poop. It did take a bit to suck out the water, about 2 minutes to get my 10 gallon 50% so if you are in a hurry and have a big tank, it will take a long time draining it depending on how much your water change is. I wasn’t scared of the fish being sucked in cause like I said it was a slow suction to where I can monitor it draining. The screws for the hose when filling is not universal, but the last part will fit a garden faucet. I was able to fill up my 10 gallon in about 1 minute. The temperature of my tap water to the aquarium was the same, so I had no problem of just filling it right through but if you’re cautious about water temp and the levels of your tap water then I would suggest not getting an auto water changer cause it’s something you may not be able to control. The only thing I was worried about is that I was putting chlorinated water directly onto my tank as opposed to the bucket system, I was able to place water conditioner for every bucket of water. I just dosed the tank before amd after with water conditioner and stress cure from api. Honestly, I think this product is a game changer and saved my love for fishkeeping again, I don’t have to dread on taking out the buckets again unless for rescaping. It’s so easy and simple, the only thing I could see you not being able to use this is if your tank is 5 gallon or less but you could always use it to refill your tank and use a different syphon to do water changes. Anyways, I think it’s worth the investments and if you are tired of buckets but do not have the money for a phyton, then this is for you.
