The thing i love about this most is that it’s super customizable. You can really put whatever media you want inside. Theres some good stuff included, but i opted to transfer some old media and moss to the inside for some good biofiltration. Works great so far and its pretty small and sleek. My shrimp love feeding off the top where some detritus builds up.

The HOB filters work better, but this has a use too. In a small bowl or small tank it provides some filtration. I say “some” because it’s really so small and can’t imagine it would handle more than 10 gallons. It is about the size of a small coffee cup. With that said, it does it’s designed job (small bacteria filter that breaks surface of water with bubbles) perfectly. The plastic is brittle so be careful assembling it. I bought 3 and have them all running in a 10 gallon tank because I wanted filters “loaded” for the new 10 gallon tanks I’m making. I ended up adding a small HOB filter too because I am preloading filters to be used on other tanks and letting the bacteria colony establish. For the money it’s a great deal. I suspect 1 in a 10 gallon tank will not be enough for most tanks unless it’s a planted tank. The HOB filter definitely mechanically cleaned the water more and took out small dust particles due to cleaning the tank.

I just got it today and so far it’s doing great!! I hope it keeps working well! I put it in my shrimp tank so now my shrimp babies can be safe!

I really can’t say enough about how much I like these filters. They are great effective little tools at providing mechanical and chemical filtration while adding air to the water. I have the small versions in my 5 gallon tanks and the double size larger versions in my 20 gallon tanks.

The media could not be loaded.Filter keeps the water super clean. So far seems durable, it’s a perfect size for my tank. Worth the price ! And was easy to set up. The suction is great too does not hurt my fishes.
