Wow! I just got this today and I can honestly say without hooking it up that this is going to be a really good filter! It’s sturdy, heavy and is durable! I bought the one pack and I’m going to put this in my tank for a couple of days to see how it goes but I love it right now and I’m sure my betta fish will also! This is a must buy for such a good price!UPDATE: Added it to my 10 gallon tank and it cleared up the water within an hour and the water has been crystal clear ever since!!! I ended up buying the four pack from them a couple of days ago to use in my other tanks and they are a little smaller then the singular 10 gallon one but they are the perfect size as to not take up a lot of room in a ten gallon. In a five gallon it may seem a little big but that’s perfect because you know it’ll filter out the water without leaving it cloudy because it’s small. THIS IS A MUST HAVE IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON GETTING MORE THEN ONE FISH IN SEPARATE TANKS!!!! I’ll be coming back for more in the future

When the bubbles are coming to the surface, it does agitate the surface water without creating a strong current. Surface slime was a problem and it was solved. Maybe with too much force, but for me the problem was fixed right away by just clipping a sponge to the side of my tank next to where the bubbles reach the surface. No modifications needed, this filter currently working great for my 12 gallon tank. I’m only using the check valve since my air pump is below the tank water line. This filter is perfect for bettas or any fish that aren’t strong swimmers. I’m assuming this filter will create too much surface disturbance for tanks smaller than 10 gallons, since it is agitating my 12 gallon tank’s surface a bit too much. But those are just minor things that isn’t really bothering me. This filter is really good and I recommend it.

Inexpensive and works well. Use these in my 10 gallon planted beta & shrimp tank, never had an issue.

This sponge filter works well with an air pump. I have had it running for over a month, and it is cleaning the snail and shrimp talk well. It has a smaller fottprint and doesn’t take up a bunch of space.

I really like this sponge filter. It does a nice job. It comes with everything you need except the air pump. The dual hose feature is nice. I hook one hose up to the sponge filter & the 2nd one I put an air stone on for a bubbler. I’m using this along with a hang on the back filter. The sponge filter is great to add a used one to a new tank to help cycle the new tank more quickly. I just went from a 10 gallon to a 20 gallon long tank. I moved the sponge & HOB filter to the new tank with some of the old sand, new sand, old decor, plants & fish – no deaths or fish issues. Water parameters were great tested with a liquid test kit (no ammonia, no nitrites & nitrates were present).
