Should be labeled as a “skimmer”, as it woks as one, more than a filter. Never cleared a 10 gallon tank but was phenomenal on clearing the oil slick. May buy a second, but would be used as a skimmer.

If your looking for a great small filter( 10 gal and under ) I have it on a 10 gal. this filter is a really good one! you can use your own filter materials, there is 2 separate chambers, there is more space than you would think. you cant adjust the flow but its okay how it is. you could also fit a sponge around the water intake for small frye and shrimp
