   Indian Almond Dried Leaves Premium Catappa Leaf Aquarium Water pH Tannin for Betta Fish, Shrimp 1.76oz, (24+ Leaves)I’ve never used Catappa leaves in my betta tank before. I do have access to grape leaves and have used those before with decent success.My Betta are in a 1 gallon micro tank that is fairly heavily planted. The seem to enjoy their environment and the water quality has been extremely stable so that I only have to top it off and occassionally suction the bottom.These come nicely packaged in two separate vacuum packs, so that they can stay fresh longer. They were dried but still flexible when I took them out of the pack. Per the instructions, I put one in a jar with water to soak for 24 hours.After a few days in the betta tank, the water has taken on a nice golden hue. The only problem is these leaves are big and take up a lot of space in the tank. In the future, I may cut them into quarters for this small tank,

   These almond leaves are great! They are huge! It is recommended to let them soak in a bucket or container for 24 hours before using them in your aquarium or you can also boil them to get the excess tannins out. I’m excited to have these for my shrimp.

   Added to all of my tanks as natural botanicals which help keep your fish healthy. Takes a while to decompose so they last a while.

   Lovely almond leaf for biotope blackwater aquariums. Almond leaf releases tanic acid into the water, turning the colors brown and enriching it for species like bettas that originated in blackwater environments. It also had medicinal purposes, as tanic acid is a natural (and very mild) astringent that won’t harm your cycle. You can put the leave directly into the tank and let it sink and decomp, or boil them in a separate container and add the cooled water to the tank. It is useful when mild small illnesses pop up to support slime coat and help de-stress fish so they can heal, or just to enhance the water and change colors. If you have invertebrates, they will love to munch on these too.

   I’d ordered a bunch of the smaller ones for my nano aquariums, but was just setting up a 20 long and thought this could be spectacular, especially if I get some shrimp going in there. it’s perfect. they’re so much prettier at this size, big and lacy texture.

   These were fantastic they sank to the bottom and made quite a nice environment for my betas to hide in. Nice colors with some purple and brown but still really cool.

   I was very pleased with the packaging of these catappa leaves; they arrived mostly undamaged. Having ordered catappa leaves from other sources that were poorly packaged and arrived broken, I was especially happy to see these sealed airtight in a sturdy envelope. I received approximately 27 nicely sized leaves, which was a pleasant bonus.I placed one leaf in my new aquarium about seven days ago. While I’m allowing it to decompose for its other benefits, I’ve noticed it hasn’t released a significant amount of tannins (see photo comparing this tank to my established tank on the right, which has noticeable tannins).Nevertheless, these leaves are a great addition to any aquarium, and they are definitely among the better-quality ones I’ve seen.
