I have recently gotten back into aquariums and have a 15 gallon tank set up exclusively for neocaridina shrimp. Shrimp tend to love cholla wood, but it also lowers pH, which is something I do not need with our current water. While I only use live plants, artificial cholla wood seemed like a reasonable compromise for this situation.I put the fake cholla wood in the shrimp tank, and within minutes they were busy checking it out. The kids love watching shrimp pop up from inside, and there are additional places for biofilm, which the shrimp also love. I will be adding the second piece the next time I work on the tank.If you want the feel of cholla wood for your tank without affecting pH, this is a good solution.
