I have a salinity probe on my controller and a refractometer. This is my backup checker. I use it regularly because both a salinity probe and refractometer must be calibrated and go out of calibration. My Kent Hydrometer just works and is pretty accurate. It doesn’t go out of calibration. So I periodically use it to validate my other means of measuring salinity.Yes it leaks. Yes it gets bubbles in it that makes it hard to accurately measure. But once you get the bubbles off (by tapping), the results are accurate.I really don’t understand the poor ratings this has. Because it does work. It is accurate (once you deal with the bubbles). And it doesn’t need to be calibrated.

Hi, for me it is a great hydrometer, every time I use it gives me the correct reading; I have a picotope, so water needs to be perfect all time…
