These puppies work wonders! I needed a chiller, fans, *something* to bring the temperature of my tank water down a bit more in order to make my axolotl comfortable in his upcoming new home. Well, these arrived right away and boy do they work! I was actually surprised how *well* they work! While I can’t speak for the results of using these on a much larger aquarium, for the 10gal I’m using them for (don’t worry, my axolotl is only about two inches long and will be upgraded as he grows), the fans dropped the temperature into the perfect range, far more even than expected! They’re pretty big, and they work perfectly on the low setting, though I did run them on high at first to drop the temperature quicker. They don’t disturb the water much at all, which is great for axolotls and their aversion to strong currents. The joints are pretty tight and positioning the fan angle isn’t the easiest, BUT, I definitely prefer that over too loose and not staying in place! They do make noise, but it’s comparable to a computer running a game with its cooling fans kicked on. A steady whoosh and light hum. I can’t speak for the longevity of these as I’ve only had them for a day and a half, but here’s hoping they last, because they sure do the job!

I am very satisfied with this device. It is a little louder than I would normally like as the aquarium sits on my desk. It is not discrete at all. In the smaller aquarium it looks quite large and stand out quite ugly. I had to device a lid that perfectly blends the shape of fans and now is much nicer not to mention that it is much quieter. Overall this unit does cool the water perfectly. It of course by the ambien temperature because unlike a refrigeration unit, it depends upon the room temperature. It will, in my experience through usage able to drop the temperature about 2 degrees on low speed and about 6 to 10 degrees on high speed mode. My office stays at around 75 and running them on low keeps 5 gallon desktop tank about 66 degrees and running them on high drops it to 60. At I keep my desk area warm at 78 degrees due to the many computer running in a closed small space and it keeps it cool at around 74~75 and when I switch to high it drops it at most to 72. It is a major gain in my opinion but you will probably kill your Axolotls at anything higher than 70 degrees.

I’ve had this for a long time and am just doing a review. It’s a great fan and works great to help keep my aquarium temperature down. Only downfall is at times it does get a little noisy, but if you squeeze the outsides together and it’s quiet again. It’s been a trooper as it’s running 24/7. I definitely would buy again!
