Works pretty well. I wanted an automatic fish feeder like this so you can individually control the portions. I only have one betta fish so the other automatic feeders would give way too much. This one, I am able to portion control to just give a few pellets at a time instead of it just dumping a bunch. I deducted one star because the set up is extremely complicated and the manual did not help much. Once you figure it out it’s fine but it could definitely use better instructions.

The Pawfly Automatic Fish Feeder delivers what it promises: easy, portion-controlled feeding for your fish while you’re away. I picked it up for a recent long weekend trip and after testing it for a few days beforehand, I felt confident leaving my aquarium unattended.Setup is fairly straightforward once you figure it out, but the programming interface and manual could be more intuitive. Plan to spend a little time deciphering the buttons and timing options. Thankfully, once it’s programmed, it works reliably.I really like the compartmentalized design—you fill up to 15 slots with your choice of pellet or powdered food, and it rotates on schedule to expose one compartment at a time. This is a big plus over drum-style feeders if you want consistent, pre-measured portions and don’t want to worry about overfeeding. It also means you can visually verify what was fed and what’s left.A few comments about this feeder:- It doesn’t handle flakes well. I had better results using pellets.- The clamp mount won’t fit tanks with a rim or lip, so I had to get creative placing it.- There’s a slight delay when pressing buttons in manual mode, so don’t assume it’s broken.Battery-powered convenience (3 AA, not included) makes it portable and reliable, and the LCD keeps you updated on power and timing.Overall, this is a great option for vacations or busy weeks, especially if you’re already feeding pellets. Just take a little time to program it carefully and run it a few days in advance to make certain that your programming works as you expected.

I set this up a few days ago and so far, so good. I often forget to give my goldfish a bit of breakfast, so this has helped fix that issue tremendously. It’s fiddly to set up, but once it’s programmed you’re good to go. I also suggest filling the little portion compartments with the unit sitting flat on a table. Is pretty easy to tip it otherwise. The release send to work very well and it’s been on time so far. I do wish it had more than 12 days, but at least this way the food stays a little fresher. I have no significant complaints about this feeder.

I have tried to get this to work as it should for a few days and have not been able to. Instructions are difficult-see pictures, and even when I though i finally had it, it did multiple feeds at once. It is a great idea but has proven difficult to figure out the programming.Update: After I thought I got it and tested it with grains of rice on a table… I wanted to have the devise do 1 dose (1 of the 15 containers) at 7am, every day. It was dumping 4. It happens that you need to select 1 for 7, and – – (two dashes) for none (even though 0 is an option). In any case now it seems to be working, but I will need to test before I put actual food i it, as adding more food than my fish can consume will rot the water. I will adjust my rating and add comments as I further test the devise.

I have the other types of feeders which include the ones which keep a bulk amount of food and dispenses by trying to measure out each feeding. The upside is that those can feed for a month, but it’s very difficult to calibrate and then the amount is imprecise. Sometimes little and close to nothing comes out and other times more that I’d like comes out.I like to be more precise with my feeding so this feeder is the absolute best for me. Since I premeasure and pre-portion every day’s feeding the exact amount comes each day. The only down side is that it can only hold enough for two weeks if feeding each day but my vacations don’t go longer than that anyhow.

Now this is an automatic fish feeder that you can definitely want to purchase for when you go away on a vacation or you just don’t want to feed the fish that day. Unlike other fish feeders that have a very small opening. And then when the water starts to create humidity and it gunks up the opening, it doesn’t work. This one right here has a large enough opening where it just dumps the entire section of food into the tank. Usually 2 of them is enough for my African sicklids. I do like this. My only gripe is that I wish it was rechargeable, but it is 3 triplets. And they seem to be working very well, and I don’t know how long it’s going to last.Let’s hope it lasts for at least a month.
