I gave this filter a higher score than the 2 other reviews I read. Why? Because it does do a very good job in the most important categories. of filtering my aquarium water & flow rate. The filter comes with 2 filter options, cartridge with sponge only & cartridge with very small sponge & carbon. I use the sponge only option in my planted tank. I clean the filter after 4 weeks & you definitely see the buildup of waste. A quick wash in aquarium water & it is clean. I like the very small profile in my tank. I like the flow rate, very good for such a small footprint filter. As the other reviewers alluding to, the filter can be noisy IF it is not fully submersed in the water, i.e., I have the top of the filter is right at the water line. I too had initial issues with the suction cups. They are small & I put the filter into another established tank with a Fluval 407 filter in order to seed the sponge for my new tank. The filter failed to stick to the glass. However, when I finally place the Sicce filter in my smaller aquarium the suction cups did hold securely to the glass as evidenced by the grip they have when I take the filter out for my monthly cleaning schedule. I do like this filter for the great flow rate, good filtration it provides & the small overall size of the filter, especially since it goes directly into the tank & space is always an issue. If you want any filtration other than a sponge or sponge/carbon, like adding filter media, you have to look elsewhere. Making the unit a little taller to be able to hold something like Matrix would be a welcome improvement.

Only tiny filter I could find that is of good quality. Reptofilter was trash and broke twice. This runs well and is keeping my snapping turtle tank clean. A very good deal so far. Highly recommend.

The suction really isn’t that great, it kind of slides around sometimes but the actual filter itself is so good. I make sure to keep the water levels above or right around where the water comes out and it literally makes no noise. When it starts making noise I know the water level in my tank is low and I probably need to do a tank clean. And even when I can hear the filter it’s not loud at all. The water flow is adjustable which is great because the first filter I had kept pushing my betta into the glass whenever it tried to swim past lol. The filter is also nice and small!

Perfect internal filter for smaller nano/pico reef tanks. I took out the internal sponge and replaced everything with filter floss. Water is crystal clear. Only draw back to this filter is the flow: very weak. Little to no surface agitation, so surface scums tends to build in my tank. Filter works better in conjunction with a wave maker or pump.
