The Reason for Selection:For use with an aromatherapy device and a Sawyer water filter.General observations:The listing indicated the tubing is food grade. I was happy to not detect any smell or plasticizer residue on the tubing.I know I needed 3/8″ ID tube for the aromatherapy tubing connections.The other devices that I wanted the tubing for have connectors that are 10mm OD. The tubing fits perfectly and has just enough grab on the device to stay put. Since this is for a very low negative pressure application, there is no leakage when the tube is fitted over the 10mm connector.I was hoping to be able to also use this tubing with my Sawyer water filter. I use silicone tubing in my homebrewing activities. It’s normally quite expensive and the quality can be very variable (easy to split). This tubing is offered at a very reasonable price ~$14 for about 17ft. It looks to be very nicely made, the walls are almost transparent and not milky like some silicone tubing. I could see no defects in the walls, and it looked to be very consistent in its thickness along its length. It’s not floppy like some of the milky tubing and is fairly firm and I think it would sustain a high pressure or vacuum very well – although I haven’t tested this. It was easy to push an end over ¼”, 5/16” and 3/8” barbed fittings. I would use a hose clamp if there was any pressure inside the tubing – particularly for the ¼” connection. I particularly liked that the product was supplied coiled on a nicely made cardboard and plastic spool. This not only looked classy but is a great way to store it (silicone tubing has a habit of unwinding itself and taking over anything it’s stored in).This is high quality food grade (but apparently, not platinum cured) silicone tubing at a great price. I intend to put it to very good use.
