Overall a nice little light for a small aquarium. There are a number of color options to chose from via the remote as well as the ability to dial in a couple more via the color up / down buttons. I did find the white to be mostly white – better than many other inexpensive aquarium lights – but still a bit blue overall. There are a few other mode options that have no right to even be an option on a light designed for living beings, not unless you deliberately want to give your fish (or your viewers) seizures.A key feature for me is recovery after power loss. Many other inexpensive lights default to a color changing mode when power was lost, but this one actually remembers the last setting when power is restored. This means that I can put it on a timer and have the white light come back on every morning without having to manually set it to the mode I want. That is a big deal. No disco quarantine tank for me please.One interesting thing I noticed about this light is the individual LED bulbs are covered by a frosted strip that smooths out the light output. We might be losing a little bit of brightness due to this, but honestly I like it as the light seems more evenly distributed.A big drawback to this light is that it has no built in controls. If you lose the remote, you are stuck with whatever mode you left it in last. However, the remote is pretty generic and I found that the light responded to another remote of the same layout. Would have been nice to add even a single mode button to the power cord as a backup.Overall a decent light if you just need simple illumination for a small tank with a smooth surface for the suction cups (which as super clingy). If you have or plan to have live plants in your tank in the future however, I would look for a different light as this one won’t easily support them.
